Gorgeous Sami Blackford is a woman on a mission – to transform your life by transforming your skin. There are many reasons why I  love Sami and her natural skincare line, Freyaluna, but what initially drew me to her was her own powerful story of transformation.

After suffering with challenging skin for years and trying every commercial product on the market with no results, Sami could have thrown in the proverbial towel. She could’ve given up and resigned herself to a lifetime of hiding and self-consciousness.

But she didn’t.

Instead Sami got a little angry and a lot creative. She decided her skin was going to improve one way or another, and if nothing in existence worked then she’d just have to make something that did.  She researched, toiled, experimented, failed…and finally succeeded! She had a natural skin care formula that worked and began spreading the news to everyone.

I admire Sami for her tenacity and unwillingness to accept “no solution” as an answer. She had courage to believe in herself and is using her discoveries to transform lives through healthy skin the same way she did.

Regardless of the particular challenge, the story of turning a weakness into a strength for the greater good is a modern day fairytale I will never get tired of telling. It’s inspiring to women of all ages, and one that I will repeat to my own daughter by showing her real life examples of women, such as Sami, who’ve tamed their dragons and learned how to fly.

Q – Sami, you’re a shining example of a woman who’s taken her greatest challenge and transformed it into her greatest strength.

Where most people would have given up and resigned themselves to a lifetime of hiding their bad skin, you decided to proactively do something about it. What prompted you to take your skin woes into your own hands and create a brand new natural skin care line?

A – First of all, thank you very much for the compliment!

For a long time, when I’d tried every off-the-shelf product and even some prescription products and nothing had healed my acne, I thought I would just have to live with my acne. I thought this must be my ‘cross to bear’, as it were. But I’ve always been strong-minded (some would say stubborn), and so I decided that I would do something about it.

As I said, I’d tried all the commercial products I could find, so I turned to Mother Nature. The way I saw it, I’d tried everything else with no satisfactory results, so I didn’t have anything to lose.

I’d always been interested in subjects like aromatherapy and living naturally, so I turned my research to natural remedies. The more I researched, the more interested and intrigued I became. I mixed-up a couple of products in my kitchen and started to experiment on myself.

After a couple of weeks I started to see a difference. A month later, the results were unbelievable. My acne wasn’t completely gone, but there was definite improvement. But not only that, my skin just generally looked and felt healthier.

After that, friends and family started to ask if I would be able to make products to help with dry skin, eczema, and other problems. After hearing their positive results as well, I decided maybe this could be the start of something, and that’s where it slowly started to become a business. That was about eight years ago now. It’s been a long and slow journey, but it’s been worth every minute.

It might sound weird, but I’m actually thankful for my acne because without it, I wouldn’t be doing the work I do. And I can honestly say, I have found my calling; the thing I am meant to be doing with my life.

Q – What does it feel like for you to hear stories of success from women who use and love your products?

A – For me, that’s absolutely the best part of my job.

Having been through years of skin problems myself, I’m so happy to be able to help other women along their journey to healthy skin.

Our motto is… When a woman is comfortable in her own skin, she can follow her dreams with confidence and become a powerful source for change in this world.

That is what I want for every woman on this planet – for her to feel comfortable and beautiful in her own skin, so that she can go out and live her passions.

And even now, though we’ve had lots of positive feedback from many women around the world, I still get that same sense of satisfaction and achievement, and a little glow of happiness every time a new customer tells us how our products have helped.

Q – I’m sure during the creation phase of your Freyaluna line there were times when you ran into unexpected obstacles. In those moments, what did you say to yourself, do, or think that empowered you to keep moving forward?

A – There were certainly many of those moments! Especially at the times when I would get too bogged-down in the little details and forget the big picture, or when I got so overwhelmed by everything that needed doing, and everything seemed to be highest priority.

I think what helped most was to get out of my own head for a bit. To just take a step back from things. I always find walking in the countryside to be very helpful in regaining center and balance. Just being in nature helps me to calm down, breathe deeply and regain my focus.

Then I would remind myself of why I was doing this – what I had gone through with my own skin, and how I can help others in similar situations.
